![]() ![]() ![]() Sadly, MagSafe, truly one of the great developments in the history of laptops, is gone, and the new USB-C power plug has no magnetic connection at all. With Beats Audio as part of the Apple family we may see a greater emphasis on audio in Macs in the future, just as Beats and HP had a successful partnership for several years. The speaker grille above the keyboard is predictably thin-sounding - this is a very small laptop after all, with little room for speaker cones to move air - but it'll suffice for casual video viewing. Thin bezels are definitely an important style note these days, although Dell does it much better with its current XPS 13 laptop, with an eye-catching barely there bezel. The screen bezel, that dead space between the actual display and the outer edge of the lid, is thinner here than on a MacBook Air, and the screen glass goes nearly edge to edge, giving the MacBook a seamless look much like the current Pro models. There's a glossy overlay, but I've seen much worse offenders when it comes to screen glare and light reflection. The screen looks clear and bright, and works from wide viewing angles. (The 11-inch MacBook Air remains the only 16:9 MacBook.) The slightly unusual resolution is a combination of Apple's drive for a very high pixel-per-inch density, as well as an aspect ratio that sticks with 16:10, as opposed to nearly every other laptop available now, all of which use the same 16:9 aspect ratio as HDTV. It, too, has a new design - it's the thinnest ever built into a MacBook, at 0.88mm - with a larger aperture for light and individual pixels in red, green and blue. The new MacBook has a 12-inch Retina display with a 2,304x1,440-pixel resolution. ![]() Here's a tip: besides the tapping feature under the trackpad preferences menu, you may want to go to the accessibility menu and look under Preferences > Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad > Trackpad options to turn on tap-to-drag. It still bewilders me that Apple turns off tap-to-click by default, forcing you to hunt around the preferences menu to find it. I ended up using this trackpad just as I do almost every other one, Apple or otherwise, by tapping rather than clicking. The most advanced use is probably fast-forwarding through a video clip in QuickTime, faster or slower, depending on how hard you press down on the trackpad. Jumping into the preview view of a document or file works with the deep click, too, just as it does now by pressing the space bar in OS X. With that second, deeper click, you can access several types of contextual information, for example, highlighting a word and getting a Wikipedia pop-up, or seeing a map when deep-clicking on an address. That deep click feels to the finger and brain like the trackpad has a stepped physical mechanism, but in fact, the movement you feel is a small horizontal shift, which, even when fully explained, still feels like you're depressing the trackpad two levels.Īpple describes it like this: "With the Force Touch trackpad, force sensors detect your click anywhere on the surface and move the trackpad laterally toward you, although the feel is the same familiar downward motion you're accustomed to in a trackpad." PT tonight, the same time as the Apple Watch, and should be available in store - presumably in limited quantities - on Friday, April 10.)įour sensors under the pad allow you to "click" anywhere on the surface, and the Force Click effect, which combines the sensors with haptic (or taptic) feedback, allows you to have two levels of perceived clicking within an app or task. (The MacBook can be ordered online at 12:00 a.m. More expensive build-to-order models are available, too. In the UK and Australia, the prices start at £1,049 and AU$1,799 for the base model and hit £1,299 and AU$2,199 for the upgrade. A second version, priced at $1,599, adds a 512GB hard drive and a tiny processor speed bump. Unlike other laptops with removable drives or RAM, everything here is (permanently) packed into a tiny custom motherboard that leaves maximum room for a large battery. Starting at $1,299, it includes a high-resolution Retina screen (much sharper than that on the Air), 8GB of RAM and 256GB of solid state storage. The 12-inch MacBook is a system that ditches the Air and Pro monikers and returns to a simpler designation not seen since the classic black and white polycarbonate MacBooks of the mid-2000s (the ones you still occasionally see in coffee shops despite being their being discontinued in 2011). ![]()

![]() ![]() The company (ScribeAmerica) is really awful. The doctors try to buy us a meal to eat while working to make up for that, although they don't always come through. ![]() Where I work, we cannot take breaks although we work 10 hour shifts, because the doctors do not take breaks. I work in an emergency department and LOVE the doctors I work with. If you are a pre-health professional, this job is a great opportunity to learn the flow of healthcare, medical terminology, names of medications, procedures, and overall the details that go into patient care. Additionally, upper management needs to better train their chief scribes OR have chief scribes that are older/more experienced. But I don't think it's great to have people who barely have any more experience than you managing. Overall, I got a lot of good experience and I learned a lot. A few times I had my schedule changed on me after it had been published WITHOUT any notification that it had been changed.Īnother complaint is that they lowered my raise AFTER my promotion (not punishing me for anything, just because they switched the way the whole system works), which I do not think was fair, given that part of my application/acceptance of the new role was influenced by the increased wage. Additionally, I got scolded for being scheduled for 50-something hours one week by two different managers (I worked in multiple departments and they apparently just didn't communicate when scheduling that time). I was told by my manager at the time that I should have clocked out (while continuing to work) because it "wasn't fair to the other employees" to log extra hours since the ER shifts were supposed to be split exactly into 6 hours. One ER shift I stayed past the scheduled time because we were still in the room with the patient. You had 22 year olds managing other 22 year olds. I loved the departments I worked in, but the company itself was inconsistent. I had mixed feelings about working for ScribeAmerica. They blame turnover on people leaving to go to medical school, but people - more. They will secretly join the call on random days of the month for "quality assurance" Management does not look for good fit and common interests when placing scribes with providers, they only go by availability If you are unhappy, good luck trying to get anyone's attention, they will just look for reasons to fire you ![]() If you try to switch to a different team your manager will deny the request You are stuck wherever they want to place you. There is bonus pay for admin duties, but if you need hours it's easier for them to just have you scribe, so you essentially never get the bonus pay ![]() They string you along, interview you for promotions, talk about new opportunities, but it is just a carrot at the end of a stick No training, other than one or two shadow shift if you are lucky If a doctor complains, your boss puts the blame on you, no one takes responsibility for how badly this company is run The schedule is never correct, and the use of two different scheduling apps (Workday & Humanity) makes it difficult to take time off The company can hire you as full time, but they will run out of work to give you and you will become part time Very corporate, lack of empathy, robotic, no leadership skills Management is terrible, unless you get lucky in your placement. ![]() So we've been sitting in the queue for over a year and they don't have the decency to move us over to a similar card that is being produce or even let us know! I had no clue till I asked in the EVGA forum. Come to find out, both of those cards haven't seen movement in well over a month and EVGA told me they aren't going to produce those cards anymore. Fine, I understand that, so I picked the two best. I had probably 6-7 cards with notifications since last Oct., over a year ago at this point. Neither of these models have made any movement on enewt's report in months, and it doesn't look like Evga is interested in producing any of their lower cost models.Ĭlick to expand.EVGA royally screwed customers. I signed up for the RTX 3080 XC3 Black on and the RTX 3070 XC3 Black on. Of course, enewt's information is based solely on people reporting when they receive a notification-so, if someone receives a notification and doesn't report it, his table may not be completely accurate. You can then get a rough idea of where you are in line based on the last notification sent out for the card(s) you've signed up for. So, you can see the current date/time at which the last notification has been sent for each model. ![]() Specifically, on the Evga forums (in this thread on the EVGA Graphics Cards forum), forum member "enewt" keeps a tally of the most recent notifications sent for each card model based on what people report in that thread. ![]() However, you can estimate where you are in the queue in a thread on Evga's forums. Per Evga's website (once logged in, select "My EVGA", then "My Notifies").ĮVGA Staff and Customer Service do not have access to queue positions or estimated times for your notifies and as such, would not be able to give you that information via phone or email." I would really appreciate if EVGA would consider this in their decision making and encourage changes which would give a chance to the typical gamer to get any card of a specific series, no matter which one, as fast as possible, instead of forcing us to pick two cards blindly from the start and hope for the best in the months, years to come. No, you cannot verify your place in the queue. 12G-P5-3953-KR 12:48:00 AM PT 3080 Ti XC3 Gaming 3953 * 6:38:20 This system is extremely biased and not advantageous for gamers who do not care which card they get, but who want one as soon as possible since they are using an old rig which can barely support any game in 1440p / 4k ultra. Not to forget that I have been stuck in this current queue for the 3080ti XC3 which hasn't moved in more than two months, one day close to the day I queued. Since the average gamer who change rig every 3-4years does not have a high score, even with elite and a few products registered (since they were prior of 2019), and we cannot find information on which cards are going to be produced and distributed in masses for years to come anywhere on the internet, making it impossible to know which model to queue for in advance, we should be allowed to change our queue to different products of the same series when we see that one product is suddendly moving much faster, as it is currently the case for the RTX 3090, which I didn't expect to go that fast, otherwise I would have kept that notify enabled and I would have gotten a card Today. Both current queues (2.0 and 3.0) require you to enlist for only two cards blindly from the beginning, not knowing what the flow of distribution is going to be in months from now, which could end up in one or two of your card not being distributed anymore. ![]() We are gamers who are playing on an old rig and who DO NOT have a high score like a ton of people on these forums who run a business. We just want to get one as soon as possible. As I explained already in this thread multiple times, I am pretty sure that there are numerous people like myself who DO NOT CARE which card they get. This shows that since a human does not have the information, the guidance and the capability to make a proper decision on which card to queue for in the beginning, to make sure he gets one as soon as possible, the queue 2.0 should allow the person to switch his two current queues to any he had in the past. Today is the day that I would have got the RTX3090 if I had not decided to remove that notify blindly to keep only 2 (both 3080ti which haven't moved in forever). ![]() ![]()
